What to Bring List: MLK Ski Weekend at Boyne Mountain – Jan 13-16, 2012

Bedding:

Bedding is provided. You can bring an extra blanket and pillow if you desire.

Toiletries:

Bring your own soap, toothbrush, deodorant, etc... Towels are provided, but you can also bring your own if you desire.

Games:

Feel free to bring Taboo, Gestures, cards, and other such group games.  In addition, you can also bring DVD player, movies, stereos and iPods.

Food:

You are responsible for your own food.  Each condo has its own kitchen. We usually buy frozen, pre-prepared foods so it's not a burden when it's time to eat.  These foods include: Lasagna, meatballs, chicken wings, pizza, salad, fruit, breakfast food, lunch type food, hot cocoa, etc...

You can also purchase food at the resort restaurants, or free load off your neighbors, lol.

Discounts

We have discounts at Boyne Country Sports (15%) and Dunham's in Troy and West Bloomfield (10%). Just identify yourself as participating in 2012 MLK Ski Weekend, and use your AAA or Kroger shopping card.

Also look for deals online, TJ Max, Costco and Burlington Coat Factory for good prices.

The Ski Gear

Ø  If you live in the south we don’t want you buying heavy coats. Just use the “layer” method. Use a long sleeved shirt, turtle neck, a fleece and a wind/rain resistant zip-up jacket to cover it.

Ø  Ski jacket - (collar should come above your chin when zipped) $39. Most of you will already have one.

Ø  Pair of ski gloves (must have drawstrings at wrist) $7-$15

Ø  Ski pants or ski bib (overalls) $19.99

Ø  Ski socks (must be made of Lycra, nylon or other synthetic material...no cotton!) $5-$10

Ø  Ski Goggles $7-$40 (beginner’s goggles).

Ø  Turtle neck or other long sleeve tee-shirt $10

Ø  Sweater or Fleece $15

Ø  Ski Mask (not the carjacking one) $15 (optional)

Ø  Long John's or workout pants (ladies) $7-$10

Ø  Ski Hat (no skull caps. We are not in the hood) $3-$15

Ø  Winter Boots (If you live in Michigan, you already have these). If you are from the south, just bring a pair of gym-shoes that are water resistant.

Other Items (optional)

Ø  Hand warmers

Ø  Sunglasses

Ø  Duffle bags (work better than suitcases and easier to pack into vehicles)

Ø  Extra trash bags

Ø  Ice scraper for your vehicle

Ø  Chewing gum

Ø  Energy Drinks

Ø  Condoms/Birth control/Morning After pills/other contraceptives

These items are absolutely necessary if you want to enjoy yourself skiing and stay warm.  Most of you will already have most of these items. The proper gear will keep you warm all day. The wrong gear will have you to lose the feeling in your toes/fingers.

You cannot ski in jeans or leather jackets!!!!!

Also remember to have your warm sweaters, fleece, graphic thermals, jeans, extra socks, long johns, and flannel PJs for lounging.  Bring a swim suit for the pool party and a bikini top for a certain after party.

Please also pack your gear for the following parties:

Friday – Meet and Greet, Speed Dating, Rep Yo City Party, House parties, Official after party (clothes with your hometown, college, greek letters, etc)

Saturday – “The Pajama and Lingerie Party” (EVERYONE wears pajamas and lingerie!!!)

Sunday – “Winter Splash” (swim suits required in the indoor pool party)

Sunday – “The Tee-Shirt Party” (white MLK T-Shirts)

If I forgot to address anything, please let me know.  Look for updates through email and on the website.

Thanks,
